Council Resolution on the Passing of the Speaker of Council, Cllr Elvis Lawrence Miggels

The Blue Crane Route Local Municipality announces, with deep sorrow, the passing of the Speaker of Council, Cllr Elvis Lawrence Miggels, who departed on 21 November 2025. Cllr Miggels served the Municipality with dedication, integrity, and commitment to the people of KwaNojoli, Cookhouse, and Pearston.

Following a Special Council Sitting held in his honour, Council has resolved on the following:

•	A Municipal Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, 4 December 2025, to reflect on and celebrate the life, leadership, and contribution of the late Speaker.

•	A period of mourning has been declared across the Municipality until his funeral. During this time, all municipal departments, staff members, and facilities are requested to observe the solemnity and dignity befitting his memory.

•	Municipal flags will fly at half-mast with immediate effect, until the conclusion of the funeral proceedings.

The Funeral Service of the late Speaker will take place in Cookhouse on Saturday, 6 December 2025.

The Municipality extends its heartfelt condolences to the Miggels family, colleagues, friends, and the broader community on this profound loss. Cllr Miggels leaves behind a legacy of committed public service and unwavering dedication to the advancement of our communities.
