BLUE CRANE ROUTE MUNICIPALITY (EC102) - NOTICE 05/2020 WATER INTERRUPTIONS BCRM is facing a water crisis. Some areas in BCRM experience water interruptions due to a number of issues: Cookhouse: · Load shedding as pumps (chemical dosing pump) are not working · High volume of sludge in the sedimentation tank · Low level on the'ground storage dam due to drought · Poor raw water quality from the storage dam (high turbidity) Somerset East: · Load shedding as pumps were not working. (chemical dosing pumps and high lift pumps) · High volume of sludge in the two sedimentation tanks at Orange Fish WTW · Frequent backwashing in filters( water wastage ) due to high turbidity in the water from the canal NOTE: BCRM community will continue to have water interruptions as the load shedding continues. Water tanks will be available on strategic points when there are water interruptions. BCRM is doing everything in its power to have the constant supply. All water consumers are urged to save water during this time. Take note of the following water-efficient tips to be implemented to start saving water 1) Use a glass of water to rinse when brushing teeth 2) Turn the tap off while doing washing 3) Shower instead of bathing 4) Use bathwater to water gardens, grass 5) Close taps properly 6) Replace leaking washers to avoid dripping water 7) Wash fruit, vegetables using a bowl.
